The Neal, Patterson and Gaines Families announce with heavy hearts the home going of their beloved Arnita “Darlene” Neal. Our Songbird earned her wings on Friday September 27, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, took flight and is peacefully resting in the gentle and loving arms of God.
She is survived by her partner and husband of forty nine years, Charles Synclair Neal III, two sons Christopher Michael Coker and Cornelius Charles Neal, one daughter Roberta Fairie Neal aka Neicie, eight grandsons, Zaqan, Tyler, Mayan, Shamar, Zakar, Shalahab, Shalam Napash and C.J., three granddaughters Imani Coker, Anna-Lisa Neal and Myka Neal, one great grandson Elias, one sister Melva “Jeanie” Gaines and three brothers, Rev. Thomas J. Patterson, Bishop Elijah J. Patterson and Phillip Dion Gaines.
She was predeceased by her Son Charles S. Neal IV aka “Spyda”, her father Elijah J. Patterson, her Mother Roberta Gaines-Wayne, her step-father Izear Gaines aka “Big John”, her sisters Evelyn Jamesetta Patterson and Lillian Woodward.
Darlene, memories of your sweet soothing voice, you infectious laughter, your radiant smile and your famous saying “Whoo Hoo Baby” will live forever in our collective hearts. We know you are up there singing in the Angelic Chorus. “Well done good and faithful servant, now the laborer’s task is o’er, go and take your rest until we meet again.”
