It is with profound sadness that the Yates, Acolatse, Wleh, Zor, McGee, and Odejayi families announce the death of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, Aletha Quaka Yates.
This sad event occurred on May 18, 2024 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, USA.
She was predeceased by her parents, James B. Yates and Sundayway Etmonia Logan.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her six children; Ophelia Acolatse, Ceola Acolatse, Clarence K. Acolatse, Jr., (Darlene), Minerva Bernice Odejayi (Michael/Adeneyi), Gershon Acolatse, and Aleus Summers; 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; her brothers; Daniel N. Zor, Charles Addy McGee, II (Cecelia/Teta), Eliott G. C. Acolatse, Jr.; her sisters; Martha Yates Wleh, Angelina Smith (Wellington/Geevon); her dear niece, Mardea Zor who was her singing partner, confidant, and personal photographer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Mommy, Ma, Grandma, Peckers, Sis Aletha, Aunt Yates, Momma Jammer, Sugardoo, Big Apple, you will sorely be missed! Rest in eternal peace.
The family and loved ones will celebrate her life on June 20th and 21st, 2024:
