With very heavy hearts, we announce the death of our own Al Sharpe aka Ali Davis. Al died on Friday August 18, 2023 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Many also know him by his nickname “Muppet”.
Al was predeceased by his mother Augusta Dollbaby Cooper and father George A. Sharpe. He was the very first grandchild of Joseph Cooper and Maggie Campbell who also predeceased him.
Al was a very pleasant man. There are so many words to describe him: quiet, always calm, friendly, laid back and never easily rattled. He was such a nice guy. He was an avid lover of football(soccer) and a good player. He played for multiple club teams including Club International of Trenton, NJ.
Al went out of his way to show himself friendly and always immersed himself in various social cycles within cities he lived: Bristol, Pennsylvania; Burlington, New Jersey; Dallas, Texas and Charlotte, NC.
Al Sharpe was born in Monrovia, Liberia on June 21, 1977 and lived his early life on Benson Street Crown Hill; he immigrated to the United States at a young age in 1988. His very first school was Quitman Street Elementary
School in Newark, NJ. He graduated from East Orange Stem Academy High School in East Orange, NJ and attended Montclair State University in New Jersey on a football(soccer) scholarship. He later attended Grand Canyon University in Arizona. For much of his professional life he worked as a Credit Analyst with multiple firms including GM Financial where he last worked.
Al leaves to mourn a multitude of family and relatives.
Mourning Al are: his wife Blessing Uche Sharpe, his children including 2 daughters Frances Hooke, Alicia Sharpe and 3 sons Al Sharpe Jr., Aiden Sharpe and Ashton Sharpe.

He was the oldest of several siblings including brothers and sisters.
His large family consists of many uncles, many aunties, many cousins, many nieces, many nephews, and a host of many other relatives.
Al’s death has hit us hard. Our family is overwhelmed and soaked with unspeakable grief. We’re hurting… crying… confused… with very high emotions.
