Reflection of Life
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that the Seabrooks, McGill, Mends-Cole, Mulbah, Wollor, & Johnson families announce the passing of Barbara Seabrooks McGill, who transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at her residence in Stone Mountain, Georgia after a brief illness. Barbara was born on March 28, 1953, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Marvis V. Seabrooks, Sr. and the late Bobbie Robertson Seabrooks. She was one of seven children, growing up in Vine City, Atlanta, Georgia, alongside her two brothers and four sisters.
Barbara was a woman of faith, accepting God at an early age and being baptized at Cosmopolitan AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Mosley. She later moved her membership to Norwood Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Norwood.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Samuel Howard Archer High School, Class of 1971, where she was a valued member of the varsity basketball team. She was also an active member of her high school alumni association, continuing to stay connected with her classmates over the years. Following high school, Barbara attended Atlanta Area Technical College to pursue her studies in Business.
Throughout her career, Barbara was known for her dedication and hard work. She held various positions at reputable companies such as Float-away-Door Company and Herman Miller, where she worked as a quality control auditor for many years until the company relocated to Michigan. Barbara also worked at K-Mart Distribution as a quality control auditor before retiring in 2013.
Barbara was a loving and caring person who brought people together. She will be remembered for her kindness and her unwavering commitment to keeping the family close. She was known for hosting family gatherings during major holidays, and even in the final years of her life, she continued the tradition, including her Christmas Eve celebration in 2024, despite not feeling well.
Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted husband of 37 years, Urias Bai McGill from Liberia; her daughter, Tiffany Seabrooks; her son, Elario McGill; her beloved grandchildren, Taylor Whittaker, Kameron Jones, and Jaden McGill; and her surviving siblings, Beverly (Lucious) Wimbley, Perry (Sarah) Seabrooks. She was predeceased by her siblings: Marvis Seabrooks, Emma Seabrooks, Patricia Seabrooks, and Shirley Seabrooks. Barbara also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Barbara was a loving soul, always offering help, support, and compassion to her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
