It is with profound sadness, and immeasurable grief, the Hill, Nimmo, and Tamba families announce the farewell of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. This sad event occurred on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021, at Piedmont Newton Hospital, Covington, GA. She was surrounded by her son-in-law Dr. C.P. Oti and daughter Nyanday Tamba-Oti.
Mother was a loving and kind person with a humble and generous soul. No one was ever a stranger to her. She helped so many, both in Liberia and in the United States. Her doors were always open to anyone who needed a place to stay. This matriarch, was born unto the union of Solomon Humphrey Hill of Artington, Liberia, and Joetta Nimmo Hill of Clay Ashland, Liberia.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Nyanday Tamba-Oti (Chieme), Kumba Tamba-Obey, Sarbium O. Tamba (Marion), Finda Tamba-Cooper (Bernard), John D. Tamba Jr. (Linda), Penky F Tamba, and Baba F. Tamba; Myfee B. Tamba (Cleo), Zubah Tamba, Etta Gbeizon-Bornor; siblings, Juanita Hill Scott, Eva Hill, Phyllis Hill Hansson, Maude Hill Pearson (Amb. Samuel B. Pearson), Wellington Hill; her favorite niece Kate Askie Forkou who was more like a daughter to her, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Solomon Humphrey Hill and Joetta Nimmo Hill; her ex-husband John D. Tamba; grandson, Bernard Cooper Jr.; Stepson, Bannie S. Tamba; brothers, Humphrey Boy-Blue Hill, Rundell Hill, David Hill; sisters, Ruth Hill Ricks, Lulu Hill Brown, and Eunicer Hill.
