Idamae Taylor-Whisnant

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Taylor, Bracewell, Butler, and Whisnant families announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Idamae Taylor-Whisnant, who departed this life on Sunday, August 18, 2024, in Connecticut, USA, at the age of 86.

Idamae Taylor-Whisnant is lovingly remembered by her children: Thomas Saah Lorenzo, Azariah A. Reeves, Olive W. Cole, James Afif Jaber, and Williette Dixon; Niece/daughters Louise Taylor & Ida Mae Taylor; and her daughters-in-law: Alberta G Lorenzo, Loretta D. Lloyd-Reeves, and Shirley Jaber. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard “Sunnyboy” Taylor, Willie Taylor (Bay Willie) and her sisters, Rose Taylor, Annie Taylor, Mildred Bracewell and Louise Brown Reaves.

Idamae was predeceased by her husband, Lester Whisnant; her sisters, Louise Bracewell-Mason, Charlotte Taylor-Sheriff, Amanda Bracewell-Curtis, Anna Bracewell-Tubman and Harrietta Taylor. Brothers Emmett Taylor (Punch) and Jefferson Bracewell.

We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from the church, community, and friends and family members both near and far during this difficult time.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 9:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Stratford, located at 1301 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, CT 06615, USA. The service will also be streamed live online.
