“This world is not my home, I’m just passing through… the Angels beacon me from Heaven’s open doors, and I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.”

The Tolbert, Dewalt, and McGill families announce with profound regrets, the death in her 78^th year of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and loved one, Evelyna N. Dewalt. This sad event occurred on March 21, 2023, at Manor Care Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Virginia, United States of America, with her daughter Watchen at her side.

Evelyna was born on March 10, 1945, unto Samuel Tolbert, and Quita Gbowee in Bong County, Liberia, West Africa. She was married to James Bowier McGill Sr, who predeceased her.

Evelyna loved to cook and was an excellent cook and caterer. Her passion in life was spreading joy by feeding people with excellent, well-prepared food for over 35 years. She was also the proprietress of several restaurants in Monrovia. She enjoyed this passion until the civil war forced her to leave her homeland and relocate to the United States of America, to be with her children.

Along with her parents and husband, Evelyna was also predeceased by her sons, Samuel F. McGill and James Bowier. McGill Jr., and her loving grandson Leslie “Test” Blankson.

Evelyna Dewalt is survived by her seven children in Liberia, Canada, and the United States, including Julia, Cecelia Smith (Oscar), Grace Livingstone (Stanley), Willyne, William Seimah (Theresa), Precious and Watchen. 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, Sisters, Sadia Deshield and Teleather Bonner-Walters of the USA, one brother, Moses in Liberia, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements are as follows: Services will be held on April 29, 2023, at the
