It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Deacon Dr. S. Momolu Getaweh Sr. This sad event occurred on January 31, 2024, in Monrovia, Liberia.
Dr. Getaweh was a dedicated educator who devoted the majority of his professional life to the University of Liberia, where he served until his retirement. Additionally, he held various esteemed positions, including former Minister of Information, Former Director General of the Cabinet, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Vice President of UL Relations at the University of Liberia.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mariama M Getaweh, several children, including, Charles Getaweh, Rev. Siafa M. Getaweh, S. Momolu Getaweh, Jr., Dr. S. Miata Getaweh, S. Malusi Getaweh, S. Margretta Getaweh-Supuwood, Hawa J Getaweh, Maima D Getaweh, and Hawa M Getaweh. His brother, Rev. John S. Getaweh, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Removal: Thursday, February 22, at 5 pm from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Home
Wake Keeping: Thursday, February 22, from 6 pm to 9 pm, at the St. Simon Baptist Church, Capital By-Pass
Funeral: Friday, February 23, at 9 am at the St. Simon Baptist Church, Capital By-Pass, Monrovia
Interment: Saturday, February 24, at Tallah, Grand Cape Mount County
All tributes should be made during the wake. Only the family, the University of Liberia, and the Church will pay tributes during the funeral.
