With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude to God for a life well lived, the Jarrett, Wesley, and Snyder families of the United States, Switzerland, and Liberia announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Henrietta Elaine, “Girl,” Wesley Jarrett, who was called home to be with the Lord.
Born on May 19, 1946, in Monrovia, Liberia, she was a devoted woman of faith, deeply committed to her family and to serving others, and known for her warmth and generosity.
Mrs. Jarrett was a retired nurse with over twenty-five years of dedicated service in England and the United States. Nursing was not only her profession but her calling, rooted in a family legacy shared with her mother and aunt. She also extended her care beyond the workplace, volunteering her skills during diplomatic assignments alongside her late husband.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: sons S. Winston Jarrett (Lillian), Hilton Jarrett, and Momolu Jarrett, daughters Grace Jarrett and Gloria Jarrett Yatassaye (Momo); her sister Sombo Izetta Wesley, grandchildren Samuela and Abraham; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends around the world.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hon, S. Winston Jarrett, Esq, a distinguished diplomat; her parents, George Momolu Wesley, Sr., and Martha Snyder-Itoka; and her siblings Absalom (Jack) Wesley and George O’Neil Wesley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 205 S. Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877, followed by a light reception in the Parish Hall.
The Wake Service will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by time for reflections and remembrance.
Tributes during the Celebration of Life service will be reserved for immediate family.
Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Parklawn Memorial Park and Menorah Gardens, 12800 Viers Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20853.
