It is with heavy hearts that the Clemens, Okai, and Lewis families announce the homegoing of their beloved brother, Kanton Varney Fisgerald Clemens. Kanton transitioned on December 30, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia, in his 60th year, after a protracted illness.
Kanton, affectionately referred to as Chef KC, KFC, KC, and Uncle Kanton, was born in Monrovia, Liberia, on June 7, 1965, to the union of Mr. Jesse B. Clemens, Sr., and Mrs. Matilda Okai-Clemens, who pre-deceased him. He is preceded in death by the following siblings: Mr. Winston M. Clemens, Nancy Beatrice C. Jamina, Mr. Aldai B. Clemens, Rev. Taweh L.V. Clemens, Mr. Jesse B. Clemens Jr., and Mrs. Watta Okai-Menjor.
He is survived by his siblings Mr. Charles Lewis, Mr. Cyril Clemens, Mr. Aloysius Clemens (Grace), Mr. Christian M. Clemens, Mrs. Wende Clemens-Jackson (James), Ms. Yarta Clemens – Billaigbakpu, Mrs. Isatu Clemens – Momo (Nathaniel), Mrs. Irene Clemens-Daniels (David), Mrs. Shirley Addy-Tah (Joseph), along with cousins, nieces, nephews, a surviving aunt, and a multitude of relatives and friends based in Liberia and abroad.\
While we are deeply saddened, we acknowledge that God’s ways are not our own. We may not always comprehend His wisdom, but we steadfastly trust in His divine will. We kindly request that you keep our families in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time.
The funeral arrangements commemorating the life of Kanton Varney Fisgerald Clemens will be conducted at the Eliza Turner Memorial AME Church on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 9:30 AM. This will be followed by interment in Harrisburg, Montserrado, Liberia.
