It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the Mitchell family announce the passing of our beloved Father, grandfather, brother, and Uncle Alfred Mitchell, who peacefully departed his earthly families and friends for HIS kingdom and glory on March 23rd, 2026.
Alfred, commonly called Bob-Mitch, entered this world on August 23, 1945, unto the union of Hon. Samuel A. Mitchell, Sr., and Teah Biabloh in Rivercess County, Liberia where he became one of seventeen children including twelve girls and five boys.
Alfred Mitchell obtained his early education at the Open Bible Mission Elementary School in Rivercess, and then Lott Carey Mission School in Brewerville. He later matriculated to the Laboratory High School, now Tubman High (MCSS), where he completed high school. With a deep passion for law enforcement, he was immediately enlisted into the Liberian National Police Academy and upon graduation, he was assigned to the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization where he served diligently attaining the rank of Captain. With growing instability in Liberia, he relocated to the USA where he found a new home in Providence Rhode Island. In Providence, Bob-Mitch worked for Bell Funeral Home and went later with the Rhode Island Hospital until his retirement.
Alfred Mitchell children include George Mitchell (deceased), Joetta M Leonidas (Sledge) and Alfreda Mitchell-Teekay (Joe ), and grandchildren, Andreal Teekay, Raphel Barnes, Polita Francis, Soleil Leonidas, Serelle Leonidas, and Sledge Leonidas II.
His surviving Siblings include Comfort A Mitchell, Yvonne Parchment (Neville), Oretha Mitchell Yarzieh (Charles), Emma Mitchell Lloyd (Edwin), Selena Mitchell Dennis (Wilmot), Marjorie Mitchell, and Samuel A. Mitchell, Jr. (Velma).
Alfred was predeceased by his parents: Hon. Samuel A. Mitchell, Sr. and Teah Baibloh; and siblings: John Payne Mitchell, Ophelia Mitchell, Shirley Ann Mitchell Toure, Thomas Payne Mitchell, Marsha Leslie, Rose Mitchell Benson, Agnes Mitchell, Louis Mitchell, Raynold (Rennie) Mitchell, Ellen Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell-King and Amanda Mitchell Sulie.
