March 31, 1951 – July 1, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Arif Bodio Assaf, Sr., who transitioned on July 1, 2026, in Monrovia, Liberia, at the age of 75.
Born on March 31, 1951, he lived a life defined by love, strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. Liberia was more than his homeland—it was the country he loved and cherished deeply. It brought him great joy to return home, and it was his heartfelt wish to spend his final years there, surrounded by the land and people he held so dear.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and treasured memories that will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia Assaf; his children, Tarnue Nabil Assaf, Arif Bodio Assaf Jr., Arisha Kyla Assaf, Addy Edwin Assaf, Benita Harris, Benjamin Harris, and Lucy Funmi Assaf; his cherished grandchildren; his siblings, George Assaf, Morris Assaf, Samaria Assaf Cartwright, Latia Assaf-Bates, Nadia Assaf Cole, Nazira Dendy, Mona Assaf, Jimmy Assaf, Isaac Assaf, and J.C.N. Howard, Jr.; along with his extended family and countless friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering presence.
Arif was preceded in death by his father, Arif Assaf; his mother, Selena Dwehdi Seton; and his brother, Walter Cooper.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the lasting impact of his life, the values he instilled, and the love he shared so freely. His memory will continue to guide and inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
