It is with profound grief, sad hearts, and deep sorrow that the Harris, Moko, Smallwood, Cummings, and Ajavon, families announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend. This painful loss occurred in the morning hours of Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the JFK Memorial Hospital, in Monrovia; he was surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Mr. S. Alfred P. Harris, Jr. was a resident of the City Hall Community in Monrovia, Liberia. He was a former Deputy Managing Director of the Liberian Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) for more than two decades; he was also a Trustee of the Providence Baptist Church; he also served at the Liberian Chamber of Commerce.
Alfred lived a life of quiet strength, dignity, and devotion to his family and his community. His passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will forever be cherished as a source of comfort and inspiration.
Alfred was predeceased by his father, Hon. S. Alfred P. Harris, Sr., by his mothers, Mrs. Louise Cummings Harris, and Mrs. Carmella Bishop Smallwood, who nurtured him into the great person that we all knew.
He leaves to mourn this extremely great loss his deeply bereaved and devoted wife, Mrs. Comfort Moko-Harris; his four children, Mrs. Alrucia Harris-Thomas (Ronald), Mrs. Tina Harris-Gaylor (Curtis), Mr. S. Alfred P. Harris, lll (Eve), and Mr. Adolphus N. Ajavon (Tannie); five grandchildren (Alfred IV, Aiden Thomas, Aiden Ajavon, Ronald, Jr., Ayla, Ruby, and Joy); and several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins whom he dearly loved; friends, classmates, and others who will dearly miss his presence in their lives.
As Mr. S. Alfred P. Harris, Jr., rests in perfect peace, he will rise at the second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The funeral schedule is as follows:
April 23, 2026 – Removal of remains from the Samuel Stryker Funeral Home (4:00 PM), to the Providence Baptist Church for wake keeping (6:00 PM).
April 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM – Funeral services at the Providence Baptist Church
April 25, 2026 – Internment at the Harris family cemetery plot in Upper Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
