The Barclay, Wolo, Johnson, Weeks, Cisco, Maysons, Gbassagee Families, with deep sorrow announce the passing of Dr. MacArthur T. Wolo who died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home in Hotel Africa, Virginia, Liberia on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. Dr. MacArthur T. Wolo was predeceased by his parents, Mr. Joseph Nippy Wolo and Mrs. Mary P. Davies Wolo, predeceased by his siblings, Elizabeth Wotor Nimely Taylor, Robertetta Barclay, and Winston Wolo, predeceased by his Daughters: Pauline Wolo and Yvonne Wolo; survived by his Wife-Barbara Young and Children: Mr. Amara Wolo, Romelle Harris, Miama Loewy, Lynda Wolo, MacArthur Wolo II, Yvette Wolo, Yvan Wolo, MacArthur T. Wolo III, Precious Dionne Wolo, Zahnto Wolo, Ashley Young, Charles Young; and several Grand Children, Great Grand Children, Nieces, Nephews and is survived by his Elder Sister-Sarah Barclay Kofa, Esther Wolo and a wide circle of close friends and family that will cherish his memory at home and abroad.
Dr. Wolo received his early education at St. Martin Catholic School-Gbarnga, graduated from the College of West Africa (CWA). In 1970 he earned a Bachelor of Science, College of Education, University of Liberia. In 1974 Dr. Wolo earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980 and earned Doctor of Medicine at the A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine – University of Liberia thereafter, in 1984, Dr. Wolo also earned a Master of Science in Public Health, School of Medicine-Howard University, Washington, D.C. Dr. Wolo returned to Liberia and worked at John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Monrovia Liberia as Assistant Administrator-Pharmacy Services,-1975-1980; Dr Wolo served as Public Health Instructor in both the College of Medicine and School of Pharmacy-University of Liberia 1988-1990; and also in 1985 – 1988 as Project Manager, South-Eastern Region Primary Health Care (SER-PHC) Project – Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, In 1990-1997, Dr. Wolo served as Health Education Material Development Consultant for the Liberian Refugee Schools Health Education Program-ADRA/HCR, Danane, La Cote d’Ivoire for Development of Health Education materials of Teachers to teach health education in these schools. In Philadelphia, U.S.A. – Dr. Wolo worked as a Manager at Rite Aid Pharmacy.
Beyond Dr. Wolo professional accomplishments, Dr. Wolo was a devoted husband, loving father, brother, uncle. He will be remembered for his integrity, his service to mankind, and the lasting impact he made on his family and community he faithfully served and helped uplift.
