We are saddened to announce the passing of Rev. Elder James Chelleh Blyee, Jr., who peacefully transitioned on January 28, 2026, just a day shy of his 71st birthday. Born on January 29, 1955, in Noomoupo Town, Sinoe County, Liberia, he dedicated his life to serving God and uplifting his community. Rev. Blyee was a distinguished spiritual leader, educator, and mentor, known for his unwavering commitment to the African Methodist Episcopal Zion (AME Zion) Church in Liberia and Hartford, Connecticut, USA.
Throughout his ministry, he served as the founding assistant pastor of the Full Gospel AME Zion Church and later as the senior pastor at Brown AME Zion Church in Monrovia. His role as dean of admissions at the former AME Zion Community College was instrumental in shaping the educational journeys of many students. Rev. Blyee’s profound teachings, kindness, and leadership fostered a sense of hope and community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He is survived by a loving family, fellow clergy, and a community profoundly grateful for his contributions. A spirit-filled funeral program to celebrate Rev. Blyee’s remarkable life and legacy, honoring the love and faith he shared with all, is as follows:
