Elder Tlulu Yates-Potter, age 75, peacefully entered eternal rest on January 27, 2026. She was born on Newport Street in Monrovia, Liberia, to Alhaji Essa and Hannah Darami. She attended St.Theresa Convent and B.W Harris for her early education and training. Upon immigrating to the United States, Tlulu experienced a personal faith journey and later converted to Christianity, where she found her spiritual home and became a devoted follower of Christ.
A loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Tlulu lived a life rooted in faith, strength, and purpose. She was a hardworking and driven woman who deeply valued her independence, education, and integrity. A proud college graduate from Bucks County Community College, she dedicated many years of faithful service to the Department of Environmental Protection in Trenton, New Jersey, where she worked with diligence and honor. Before moving to Jacksonville, Florida Tlulu lived in host of cities including Staten Island, NY as well as Trenton, NJ, and Philadelphia, PA, Atlanta, GA, and Houston, TX.
Tlulu was an elder in her church and a longtime believer who lived out her faith through action. She was known for her generous spirit, steady wisdom, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Whether serving her church, supporting her community, or caring for family and friends, she gave selflessly and without hesitation. Her life reflected compassion, resilience, and steadfast trust in God.
She found great joy in her family, whose legacy spanned generations, and she embraced each role with pride and grace. Through prayer, encouragement, and love, Tlulu touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of faith and service that will endure.
She is survived by her beloved children, Hannah Yates and Thomas Yates; her cherished grandchildren, Moriah, Malcolm, Shane, and Shakeerah; and her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Though she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that Tlulu has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” and now rests peacefully in the presence of her Lord.
A Celebration of life Service will be held on February 21, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, worship, and gratitude for a life beautifully and faithfully lived.
