The Sonii, Kiazolu and Coleman families announce with deep sadness the death of their father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Mr. Momodu Dwalo Sonii, Sr. who passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the JFK Memorial Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia after a brief illness.
Momodu D. Sonii, Sr. was predeceased by his parents Mambu and Kartumu Sonii, his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Marinda A. Coleman-Sonii who went to eternity just over six months ago.
He was one of eleven brothers and two sisters, many of which predeceased him. He is survived by his four children: Sandra, Fatu, Kula, and Momodu, Jr; three grandchildren: Aubrey, Autumn, Katherine and a host of nieces and nephews including: Ciapha, Jarsee, Sando, Famatta, Haji, Mambu, Kartumu, Boakai, Varney, Octavious, Eureka, Patience, Robert Coleman Jr., Kona, Kunu and the host of other relatives and friends.
The Funeral services for our father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Momodu D. Sonii, Sr. are as follows:
There will be a time of reflection/wake on Thursday night, February 5, 2026 at 7 o’clock to 10 o’clock at the family residence on the SKD Boulevard in Congo Town, Monrovia.
The body will be removed from the Stryker Funeral Home at 9 o’clock on Friday morning, February 6, 2026 to St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Camp Johnson Road for an hour of viewing followed by the funeral service at 10 o’clock.
Friends and family are invited to the family residence thereafter. The body will remain at the church. At 9 o’clock on Saturday, February 7, 2026 the family will accompany the
body to their ancestral home in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County for burial.
