August 31, 1954 – September 29, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that the Kokro and Greaves families announce the peaceful homegoing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Mrs. Rose Greaves Kokro, who transitioned from this life on Monday, September 29, 2025, in the United States.
Born in 1954 to the late Harry A. Greaves Sr. and Bokan Danito Kai, Rose spent her early years in Bong County, Liberia, where she attended Gbarnga Methodist School. She later attended Zorzor Lutheran School and Bromley Episcopal School, among others. At a young age, her kindness and dedication shone through Rose was recognized for her promise and character. Rose was among a select group of students chosen to travel to Germany where she completed her higher education and studied hospitality and dietary science. This experience provided her the opportunity to become fluent in German.
In 1978, Rose immigrated to the United States, joining her late uncle, Alfred Greaves, in Trenton, New Jersey. In 1985, she married her lifetime partner Mr. Joseph Kokro, a founding member of the Central New Jersey and Metropolitan Area Liberian Community Association. Together, Rose and Joseph Kokro opened their hearts and home to many newly arrived Liberian families, transitioning to life in the United States throughout the 1980s and into the 2000s. Their home became a welcoming hub and gathering place for Liberian newcomers and residents—a symbol of community, compassion, and belonging.
They were blessed with three wonderful children: Worlue Kokro Eutsey (Darrin Eutsey, Son-in-law), Flomo Kokro, and Kulubo Danito Kokro. Her children and grandchildren—Brianna, Bianca and Bella Rose—were her greatest joy and life’s purpose, the truest expressions of her love and pride.
Rose leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Joseph Kokro; her beloved children and grandchildren; her cherished brothers and sisters; aunties, uncles, cousins and a host of relatives and friends who loved her dearly. Rose was preceded in death by her father, Harry A. Greaves Sr.; her mother, Bokan Danito Kai; her brothers, Harry A. Greaves Jr. and James Greaves; and her sister, Kahn Greaves.
Rose’s spirit of compassion, unity, and devotion will continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, relatives, and all whose lives were blessed by her.
