Jason Alvin “J-Al” Washington, age 58, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by family. Born on May 17, 1967, in Monrovia, he brought light and laughter to those around him throughout his life.
Affectionately known as “J-Al,” Jason was a vibrant presence from an early age. He made his mark as a standout basketball player during his high school years and became a local favorite for his performances in school talent shows. His sociable nature and friendly demeanor made him beloved by many, and his cheeky responses and endearing stubbornness are already deeply missed by those who knew him best.
Jason’s faith was an important part of his life. He worshipped in both Baptist and non-denominational prophetic Christian communities, drawing strength and purpose from his spiritual beliefs.
He is lovingly remembered by his son, Edwin “Junior-boy” Washington; sisters Ethel and Angie; brothers Edwin, Robert Phillips (Vanessa), and Blama Washington; foster brother Alexander Colman; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
Jason was preceded in death by his father Julius Washington, mother Leona Mulbah, and stepfather Robert Phillips Sr.
A funeral service honoring Jason’s life will be held in Philadelphia. As family and friends gathered to celebrate the man we call J-Al, memories will be shared filled with laughter, love, and gratitude for the time we had with him.
“We Love You J-Al, But God Loves You The Best.”
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Funeral service will be held on November 1, 2025 at Fountains Of Life Ministries/PA.
