ANETTA LOUISE OUTLAND SMITH

With profound sadness the Smith, Outland, and Gant families announce the death of our beloved Anetta Louise Outland Smith. This sad event occurred on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Houston Methodist Hospital in Sugarland, Texas. She was born unto the union of Joseph L. Outland, Sr. and Diana Gant in Brewerville, Liberia. Anetta was a committed Christian who was blessed with the spiritual gifts of Encouragement (empowering others through comfort, counsel, and urging), Giving (ability to contribute material resources freely and joyfully), Mercy (deep empathy and compassion for those in need, expressed in tangible ways) and Service (willingness and ability to support others in practical and spiritual ways).  She was a member in good standing at Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond, Texas.

Anetta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and a cherished friend to many. She is survived by her husband, Farrington Q. Smith, three children, Quielle F. Smith, Corvah Q. Smith (Brittany) and Emmanuel G. Smith (Mary), her mother, Diana Gant, five grandchildren, brothers, sisters a host of relatives and friends.  Anetta was predeceased by her parents, Mr. Joseph L. Outland, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Thorpe-Outland (stepmother), and her siblings; Joseph, Marie, Oretha, Rachel, Arthur, Edwin, Clarence and Etta.
