Death Announcement of Theonie Enid Rita Johnson
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend, Theonie Enid Rita Johnson, who was welcomed into Glory on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11:10 AM.
The Lord heard our prayers, and in His perfect timing, He called our dear Mother home to a place of peace, beauty, and joy beyond imagination. She is now with her ancestors, family of believers, and in the presence of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
Theonie Enid Rita Johnson was born in Upper Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia, to Hannibal Brumskine and Luvenia Elizabeth Berry-Tubman. Mama was raised by her maternal grandparents, mother and stepfather, Mr. John N. Tubman, who she loved dearly and played a pivotal role in her life. She graduated from the University of Liberia with a degree in Economics. She married our father, William Alexander Johnson, Jr in Germany, while studying fashion design. While in Germany our parents were blessed with 2 children. They return back to Liberia, where together they had 3 more children. The entire family migrated to the United States in 1988.
Besides caring for her family, Mama enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, dancing, styling, and traveling. She was known in the community as a trusted and valued seamstress. She sewed many wedding dresses, formal gowns, traditional African attire, beddings, curtains, doilies, and other fabric creations. Mama was truly gifted not only artistically, but intellectually and socially.
Our mother was a God fearing, loving matriarch, who embodied grace, wisdom, and strength. As a mother and grandmother, she nurtured her family with unwavering care, creating a foundation of love and support. Her home was a place of warmth and cherished memories that live on in the hearts of her family. Her energy and spirit continues to vibrate through the lives of her husband, children, grandchildren, and all others she encountered.
In addition to a host of loving relatives and friends in the United States, Liberia, and worldwide, she leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, William Alexander Johnson Jr., and their children (listed by birth order):
