SUNRISE: July 2, 1951 SUNSET: OCTOBER 23, 2023
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Murray, Goodridge, Bernard, Porte and Best families announce the sudden and unexpected death of our beloved mother, sister, aunty, cousin and friend, Roydee Una Murray-Bernard. (Affectionately called the General, Aunty Darling, Sis Roy, Cuz and friend) The sad event occurred at 11pm on Oct. 23, 2023 at her residence in Mamba Point, Monrovia, Liberia.
Roydee was born unto the union of Roynell Abner Murray and Annette Goodridge-Murray (deceased) on July 2, 1951 in Monrovia, Liberia. She spent most of her childhood years in Monrovia and Crozierville, Liberia.
She attended and graduated from the Suehn Industrial Academy and the University of Liberia. She was one of the first flight attendant on Air Liberia and later changed professions to work in the insurance industry. She migrated to Colorado, USA in 1990 because of the civil war in Liberia and later settled in Orange County, California with her three children. She remained in Orange County, California until her retirement in Sept. 2020 when she returned to Monrovia.
Roydee leaves to mourn her death and celebrate her life: her children Kpingba Bernard (deceased), Danielette Bernard and Archie Bernard (Kim), her siblings: Gladys Murray-Porte, Rainsford Rho Murray (Gwen), Afulabe Murray-Roberts, Lynnette Murray-Gibson, Olive Murray-Andrews (Kawyienee), Annette C. Murray, Roynelle A. Murray, Rexie Porte-Streeter (Ernest), Reginald Holder, her nieces, nephews, cousins (special note: Muriel Best, Maureen Sieh & Araba Woart), friends (special note: Alona, Katy & Johnnie) and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Mommy, Sister Roy, Aunty Darling, General Murray, Cuz, and friend, you will live in our hearts forever with your beautiful smile, sharp tongue and wit. We love you and hope you are finally at peace.
Home going Celebration:
Roydee’s body will be cremated and remains buried in Crozierville. (Private ceremony)
Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023 at the Masonic Temple on Benson Street, Monrovia, Liberia.
