
The Best, Porte, Eastman, Carr, and Stewart families, united in grief, mourn the passing of Muriel Enid Best, the matriarch of the Best Family of Liberia. She departed this life at 93, leaving a legacy of service, resilience, and devotion to family and country. The sad event occurred on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Born on February 26, 1932, to the union of George and Lilian Best, Muriel became the longest living member among the Best and Porte families, a testament to her remarkable life.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Sybil Sieh (Aloysius), Beryl Brewer (Charles), and Genevieve Dorbor (J. Mamadee), as well as her brothers, Canon Burgess Carr (Frances) and Kelvyn Best. She is survived by her two remaining brothers, Kenneth Y. Best (Mae Gene) and Keith Neville A. Best, and her sister, Ina D. King.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Removal: Friday, April 4, 2025, at 5 p.m. from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Home on Tubman Boulevard.
Wake Keeping: April 4th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Funeral: Saturday, April 5th at 10 a.m. at Trinity Cathedral. We kindly request attendees to honor Muriel’s memory by dressing in white, purple, and green.
Burial: Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery in Crozierville. Departure for the cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service.
Tributes: At wake only. Funeral tributes are reserved for the State, Church, and Family.
