It is with profound sadness that the Henries and Jones families announce the homegoing of their daughter, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Miata Colleen Jones. Miata, affectionately called “New Piece” and “MJ” by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024 in New York City with her family by her side.
She is survived by her grandmother Angelique Cooper-Jones, her mother Martha Henries; her father Arma Jacob Jones, Felecita; her daughters Ruth Aysata and Caroline Eugenia; her sisters Rubye (Blossom), Samantha (Gita), Andrea (Gigi), Miama, Eda (Yuku) and Toni (Kadiatu); her brother Quonah; beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of loving relatives and dear friends.
Her grandparents Dr. Jacob Jones, Hon. Richard A. Henries Sr., Haja Ma Zoe Freeman and Priscilla Travers predeceased her.
Funeral services for Miata will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in New York City.
